Women's Basketball Leagues in NJ: Where to Play in 2026

Here's a frustrating truth about basketball in New Jersey: if you're a woman who wants to keep hooping after high school or college, your options mostly come down to co-ed pickup runs or leagues built entirely around men's divisions. The competitive infrastructure that men take for granted, real referees, published stats, playoffs, a championship worth chasing, barely exists for women in this state.

That's exactly why we built the Showtime Sports NJ Women's Division, and why it's become one of the only dedicated women's adult basketball leagues in New Jersey.

What a real women's league looks like

We didn't build a watered-down side league. The Women's Division gets the identical premium experience as our men's divisions, because anything less would have missed the point.

That means certified referees and official scorekeepers at every game. Full stat tracking, with points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks published to league standings every week. League jerseys or shirts. Playoffs and a championship. And the same weekly coverage our men's teams get: written recaps, photo coverage, and video highlights on YouTube.

When Briana Lee dropped 31 in a Week 3 game this summer, it led the league recap. That's the standard: your best nights become part of the league's story.

Who plays in the Women's Division

The range is wider than you might expect. We have former college players who still want real competition, post-high-school hoopers who never stopped playing, and women getting back into organized ball after years away. Teams like the Lady Lions, Splash Sisters, and SheHoop battle through a 6 to 7 game regular season, and every season ends with a champion holding a trophy.

The level is competitive, but the door is open. If you can play organized basketball and want games that are officiated, tracked, and taken seriously, you belong here.

How to join

With a team: gather your squad and register on our league registration page. Rosters carry 8 to 12 players, and spots are first come, first served.

Without a team: register as a free agent. When enough free agents sign up, we build a new team from scratch, and otherwise we place you on a roster that needs depth. We wrote a full free agent guide that walks through exactly how placement works.

Everyone needs to be 18 or older and complete the liability waiver before playing. Current pricing is always posted with each season's registration listing.

Where we play

We typically host our leagues at quality full-court gyms in Somerset and Middlesex County. Players make the drive from Union County, Essex County, and the Shore, because a real women's league is worth the trip, and for most of New Jersey, this is the only one within driving distance.

The bigger picture

Our women's division isn't a side project. Some of the biggest performances in Showtime history have come out of it, and it keeps growing every season. As the league expands, with a 30+ division on the way and co-ed on the radar, the women's game is at the center of where Showtime is headed.

If you've been waiting for a league that takes women's basketball seriously, this is it.
