A 3-seed storms to the Silver crown, Jakari Spence pours in a summer-high 60, and Prime Time stays perfect — here's everything from July 26–29.
CHAMPIONS: Team Select. Don't let the regular-season record fool you — Team Select finished the Summer at just 3-3, then caught fire when it mattered most. As the No. 3 seed they knocked off No. 2 Fast Break in the semifinals and then stunned unbeaten top seed New Jersey Buckets 68–59 in the final to win it all. Danny De Jesus was named Finals MVP, pouring in 21 points in the title game after a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double in the semi. Fittingly, Fast Break's Jordan Summers — the division's leading scorer all summer — was crowned Regular Season MVP.
Championship — Team Select 68, New Jersey Buckets 59. The Buckets came in a perfect 6-0 and led 40–31 at the break, but Team Select clamped down after halftime and never let go. De Jesus (21 points) carried the load, with Daishon Robinson and Jared Pearson chipping in 15 apiece. Yvelt Exil kept the Buckets alive with 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals, but the upset was on.
Semifinal — Team Select 74, Fast Break 64. The Cinderella run started here. Player of the Game Danny De Jesus owned the glass with 15 points and 13 rebounds, Brandon Steward stuffed the sheet (19 points, 7 boards, 6 assists, four threes), and Jared Pearson added 18. Jordan Summers went for a game-high 24 in the loss.
Semifinal — New Jersey Buckets 76, Beach Boyz 70. Player of the Game Yvelt Exil was unstoppable with 29 points and five threes, and Keshawn Peterson backed him with 19 points and three steals. Beach Boyz fought to the buzzer behind Brandon Sessoms (19), Jon Flete (17) and Sammy Cruz Jr. (15).
Scari McDonalds 104, PTR 92. This one belongs to Jakari Spence, who detonated for a summer-high 60 points on a dozen three-pointers to drag Scari to a 104-point explosion. He wasn't alone — Alexander Leiba muscled up a 17-point, 15-rebound double-double with three blocks, while Tyrel Davis (11 & 13) and Larry Smith (6 points, 13 boards, 6 assists) cleaned the glass. PTR made it a track meet behind Justin Morton (34) and Phil Brown (27, 8 rebounds), but nobody had an answer for Spence. Player of the Game: Jakari Spence.
Bearcats 98, Misfits 72. The Bearcats tied their season team-scoring high with 98, powered by Player of the Game Noah Harris (23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, five threes). Kyree Henry splashed four triples for 18, and Ethan Garita bullied the paint for a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double. Ray Zamloot (24) and Daniel Yarus (20) kept the Misfits firing.
The Turnover Bakery 80, Mudita Rec 62. The Bakery's balance was too much: Player of the Game Jaden Honis posted 18 points and 8 boards, Isaiah Honis led all scorers with 19, and Billy Anderson hauled in 14 rebounds to go with 11 points. Andrew Martin (18) and Daryl Banks III (15, 5 assists) answered for Mudita.
Club Passion def. RU (forfeit). RU was unable to field a team and forfeited 20–0 — their second forfeit in as many weeks. RU has been withdrawn from the schedule for the remainder of the season, so Club Passion takes the win. (Flint Tropics were on a bye.)
Prime Time 63, Lady Lions 44. Still perfect. Prime Time ran their record to a spotless 6-0 behind Player of the Game Alyssa McDonough (18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists) and Tahira Rodriguez (18). Shaniece Wright stuffed the box score with a 12-point, 12-rebound, three-steal double-double, and Amanda Carney added 12. Amanda Baylock's five-three, 17-point night led the Lady Lions.
Splash Sisters 60, Avengers 46. Splash jumped out 27–13 and cruised, led by Player of the Game Danaejah Grant (13) with Sydney Jenisch (11) and Brooke DiNardo (10, two threes) chipping in. Nicole Metzel was a one-woman wrecking crew for the Avengers — 14 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
Ballsohard 54, Willy P 37. Player of the Game Mahogany Jenkins was the story, scoring a game-high 22 with 7 rebounds and three steals. Adirah Banner dominated the glass (9 points, 12 rebounds). Menna Hafiz (12) and Jada Jacobs (6 points, 10 rebounds) battled for Willy P.
Lords of the Rim 58, SheHoop 44. Player of the Game Caileigh Walsh did a bit of everything — 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists — with Brooke Baisley (11) and Isabella Curanovic (10, 8 boards) providing the muscle. Kiara Joseph (12) and Olivia Moses (11) led SheHoop. (Troublemakers were on a bye.)
Men's Silver — Danny De Jesus (Team Select). Finals MVP. A 15-point, 13-rebound double-double in the semi, then a game-high 21 in the championship.
Men's Gold — Jakari Spence (Scari McDonalds). Sixty points. Twelve threes. A summer-high scoring night we'll be talking about for a while.
Women's — Mahogany Jenkins (Ballsohard). A complete 22 points, 7 rebounds and three steals to lead Ballsohard past Willy P.
